Answer
Ahobilam is a very special and sacred place. Please understand that the original Narasimha-lila took place on the heavenly planet, Indraloka, when Lord Narasimha appeared to protect Prahlada Maharaja.
Now, what is this place called Ahobilam, which is worshipped as a holy dham connected with Lord Narasimha’s pastimes?
Ahobilam is the sacred place where great sages performed intense tapasya and worship of Lord Narasimha. These sages prayed, “O Lord, we wish to behold Your divine pastime of appearing from the pillar to protect Prahlada.” In response to their devotion and austerities, Lord Narasimha revealed to them that very pastime — how He manifested from the pillar for the sake of protecting His devotee Prahlada.
The place where Lord Narasimha revealed this pastime became worshipped as Ugra-stambha, the sacred pillar associated with His appearance. Similarly, other places in Ahobilam are connected with different forms and pastimes of Lord Narasimha.
It is said that Ahobilam is associated with nine forms of Narasimha, and each form is connected with a particular pastime or mood of the Lord. In this way, the entire dham is filled with spiritually revealed pastime places.
These holy places are not ordinary historical locations. They are divine revelations granted to great devotees and sages who performed tapasya and worshipped Lord Narasimha with deep devotion.
