Answer
That is why Krishna says that a person practicing yoga should never lose hope.
In that context, our ācāryas give the beautiful example of the sparrow and Garuḍa.
The sparrow was trying to empty the ocean.
Now just think—when is that ever going to happen?
Is it even possible for a tiny sparrow to empty an entire ocean with its small beak?
How much water can it possibly carry at one time?
Yet the instruction is: do not lose hope; keep trying.
The point is not the sparrow’s capacity alone.
The point is its sincere effort.
And then comes the real hope: Garuḍa will come.
That is our hope in spiritual life as well.
Krishna’s mercy will come.
Guru’s mercy will come.
And what is the qualification to receive the mercy of the guru and Krishna?
It is our sincere attempt.
That sincere effort itself is the qualification.
When the spiritual master sees that we are genuinely trying, and when Krishna sees that we are making a sincere effort, then Their support and mercy will surely come.
Therefore, we should continue practicing without losing heart.
We should keep trying.
