Answer
The mercy of Nārada Muni was there — he blessed him. Without such mercy, our own endeavor alone cannot succeed. Only when pure devotees mercifully bestow their blessings can one achieve perfection in a very short time. Because of the blessings of Nārada Muni, he attained success; there was no individual credit for him. He simply practiced the process that was taught to him.
