Answer
Krishna is sat–cit–ānanda — the reservoir of spiritual energy. When we come in contact with Him, that spiritual energy must naturally flow.
How do we “touch” Krishna? Through attention. Attention is the medium. When your consciousness is focused on the Holy Name, you are actually connecting with Krishna, who is fully spiritual.
Just like when iron is placed in fire, the heat and energy of the fire naturally enter the iron — similarly, when we chant attentively, spiritual energy flows from Nāma Prabhu into us.
Now, one may ask: “I am not spiritually advanced. I feel powerless.” But that does not matter. In fact, the more we feel our lack of spiritual strength, the more receptive we become.
Think of it this way: whether a person is strong or weak, a child or an adult — if they touch a live electrical wire, the current will flow. The effect does not depend on their qualification; it depends on contact.
Similarly, chanting and hearing is the process of making contact. Through that contact, spiritual qualification (adhikāra) gradually develops.
At first, we may not even understand what sat, cit, and ānanda mean. These are subtle, spiritual energies — they cannot be seen with material senses. Just as we cannot see radio waves but can experience their effect through a device, spiritual energy is also perceived through its effect.
When you chant sincerely, you may notice changes:
your mind becomes calmer,
unnecessary thoughts reduce,
you feel less attracted to material distractions.
This is the flow of sat-śakti — spiritual potency.
What does this spiritual energy do?
It gives enthusiasm to serve Krishna.
It gives determination to continue in devotion.
It helps us detach from temporary, material pursuits.
It strengthens our ability to reject illusion (māyā) and choose Krishna.
Material energy pushes us toward sense enjoyment. Spiritual energy neutralizes that influence and redirects us toward service.
So spiritual strength is not about external power — it is about inner transformation:
the ability to turn away from temporary things and choose Krishna again and again.
At the same time, we should understand that these energies are personal. Krishna is a person, and His energies act according to His will. They are not mechanical or impersonal. When He is pleased, He allows these energies to manifest more deeply within the heart.
Krishna is always surrounded by His spiritual energies, and those same energies begin to act within us when we sincerely engage in chanting and service.
So whether one feels qualified or not is secondary. The essential thing is sincere contact — through attentive chanting and hearing. From that contact, everything else gradually unfolds.
