[Why do we forget Krishna] You told like sat cit ananda – these are our basic needs and that is how Maya keep on bewildering us. But we know that God is the source of satcitananda and we are his part and parcel and our position is to serve him. So my question is why do we forget that we are servant of Krishna? Our only duty is to become servant. Why we try to become master?

Answer
One of the characteristics of sat (eternal existence) is freedom. Your nature is sat–cit–ānanda, and within that, free will is inherent. So when you desire independence—even the desire, “I want to be separate from Krishna”—that freedom is allowed.

Krishna does not force. He allows you to try. As a tiny part (aṁśa), you are given a field—the material world—where you can exercise that independence under the laws of karma. You can choose to forget Him, even deny Him, and live as you like. He does not interfere. But then, naturally, you experience the results of your actions.

Over many lifetimes, the living entity continues like this. And then a question begins to arise: “What is happening?” Because the law of karma gives both sukha (happiness) and duḥkha (distress). But the soul wants only happiness.

Now the contradiction becomes clear: “I wanted freedom, and I have it—but along with it comes both happiness and suffering. Why?” Then deeper reflection begins. The soul’s nature is sat–cit–ānanda, yet in the material world, ānanda is never complete—it is always interrupted.

At that point, one starts realizing: “I am in an abnormal condition. I am searching for my natural happiness in the wrong place. My inner instincts are misdirected.”

Real fulfillment comes only when that natural inclination is directed toward its true source—Krishna, the reservoir of all existence, knowledge, and bliss. When the soul reconnects with Him, it returns to its constitutional position, where real and uninterrupted happiness becomes possible.
